Last week we were basically iced in from Tues til Friday.
And it was kind of awesome.
I've also been on a wild anime binge for some unknown reason. So much I've watched, from the ridiculous to the sublime.
TV-wise: Finishing up Caprica, watching RuPaul's drag race and Young Justice.
Also got a ton of writing done and have become obsessed with sewing these funny little stuffed things that I'll take a picture of tomorrow when I get home from work. They're so much fun to sew!
(Also, minecraft took up some of that iced in time. It's like I'll play it a bit...then stop for weeks at a time, then suddenly start playing with it again.)
2010 was an interesting year wasn't it?
I'm finding that I want to come home to this journal for random fannish squeeing, lusting after various clothes from everywhere, craft updates and of course...doll photos.
I have a new job!
This basically sums up how I want my year to feel like:
A pre-emptive hello and thank you!
This whole Yuletide shebang is going to push me into updating this woefully neglected LJ.
Okay, here's what you came for, the meat of what I might like to see.
Andrew Bird's Armchair Apocrypha: I'd love to see something like a short story from any of the songs. Tie a few together, shake up the whole album and see what falls out. If you're an Andrew Bird fan I hope you really enjoy this. If not, maybe you'll become a fan, there's a ton of his stuff on youtube. Barring that, just look up some lyrics and go nuts.
Mass Effect: Have fun. If you want to write Krogan love poetry, go for it! A scene where Garrus annoys Tali so much she gets even with him flotilla style. Perhaps just a scene with EDI and Joker gossiping about new crew members. I'm a big fem-Shep fan that's about where my preferences begin and end.
Sharon Shinn - Samaria: I've seen so little fic of this I'm curious to see what someone would write. You're even welcome to create OCs if it helps. I just want stories set in this world, no matter what time-frame since I know the books spread across decades.
So there we go! Just write and have fun with it.
I need to start typing here again, you know?
Let's see, via two conventions, my brother brought me back Honey and Clover 1-6. Seriously, I can't believe I forgot how awesome this series is. I really that Viz would release the TV series and not just the movie. Mostly because I think I lost the series in a HD crash a few years back.
That and I love the way Hagu dresses for the entire series. Also it's so damn hot here in the summer I need some inspiration past jeans and t-shirt.
I have been wearing more skirts though.
I've been writing, a lot.
I've been job hunting, a lot.
Newish things I've become a raging fan of: Mass Effect, Leverage, RuPaul's Drag Race (well that's not so new)
I still love the crazy dollies.
I'm working on going to grad school.
And that's about it for now. I kind of forgot the joy of just yapping away on LJ and I kind of miss it. (I still read my FL, even if I seem kind of quiet)
Drinking massive amounts of coffee
Keeping the odd existential crisis at bay
Re-watching Detroit Metal City
I keep swinging from super inspired to super pissed off to totally pleased with doing exactly what I've wanted to do.
I had a great weekend and am feeling pretty damned content.
The other thing I need to do is check up on my library books, I think a few of them are coming due soon. Thank goodness for online renewal!
Today I made banana bread. It kind of went all mutated with one side much bigger than the other. My mutant bread!
A few minutes ago I hear a nomnomnom sound from over in the kitchen.
THE KITTENS WERE NIBBLING THE LOAF!
Fred on one side (he makes the noise), Lucy on the other.
It's now wrapped up and in fridge where it's safe.
UNTIL THE KITTENS LEARN TO OPEN THAT TOO!
Next week it happens, I'm sending something else out into the world for acceptance or rejection!
Holy crap. Basically I need to just get off my duff and start sending things out or I'll end up in some vicious virgo cycle of 'it's not good enough yet!' it's good enough now, send it out, learn how to make it better! (or blow it up and start all over again.
They sent the time and location for our reading group at Wiscon. *SWEAT*
I'm excited though, it's a pretty big step for me.
I missed a BEDA day yesterday, but I'll sneak in and backdate and entry. hohoho~
